How to choose a wedding photographer — part 1
A short guide to choosing your photographer: Look at a story, not just a photograph.
Look at a story, not just a photograph.
One photograph can catch your eye. To understand whether the work suits you, ask to see a sequence from a wedding: preparations, portraits, family, chuppah and celebration. Look at the light in different conditions, the relationships between people and how the photographs connect.
In portraits, look for the person as well as the composition. Is there room for character and response? A sequence reveals more than a choice of beautiful background: it shows pace and a photographer’s way of seeing. Choose work you want to return to, then discuss how it was made and what would make room for that approach within your day.
