ORTHODOX JEWISH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

A MODERN PERSPECTIVE

THE ART OF PORTRAITURE

UNDERSTANDING THE TRADITION

THE WEDDING STORY

THE CELEBRATION

THE FINISHED IMAGE

ORTHODOX JEWISH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Orthodox Jewish weddings.
A contemporary perspective.

Orthodox Jewish wedding photography can be contemporary, carefully composed and full of character while respecting tradition and what matters to your family.

I am Moshe Chaim Katz, an Orthodox Jewish wedding photographer working with Orthodox and religious Jewish families in Israel and abroad. My approach brings together editorial photography, attention to light and composition, and a personal understanding of your world.

I want your photographs to reflect the people closest to you and the atmosphere of your day, with a visual language that feels both considered and personal.

A MODERN PERSPECTIVE

Rooted in tradition.
A contemporary eye.

I see no conflict between a commitment to tradition and a modern approach to photography. Family, customs, emotion and celebration can all find their place in images that are clean, elegant and alive.

I look for the way light, surroundings and people come together. The aim is to make thoughtful photographs while allowing the wedding to keep its own character and rhythm.

THE ART OF PORTRAITURE

You do not need to know
how to pose.

Feeling unfamiliar with a camera should not stand in the way of good portraits. Rather than build each image through a long list of small instructions, I often suggest a simple action: walk, turn or change direction.

I choose the light, viewpoint and moment, offering guidance when it helps. This creates wedding portraits that combine a deliberate composition with natural expression and movement.

UNDERSTANDING THE TRADITION

Know the customs.
Understand the family.

I live within the Orthodox Jewish community and know the traditions and flow of Orthodox and religious weddings. That familiarity helps me anticipate important moments and photograph them with respect for the people involved.

Every family has its own way of celebrating. Before the wedding, I want to understand your schedule, family groups and particular customs. Photography should fit into your day.

THE WEDDING STORY

From preparations to dancing.
A complete story in photographs.

A wedding day brings together very different moments: preparations, family encounters, portraits of the couple, the chuppah and the celebration that follows.

I combine planned portraits with observation of events as they unfold. Alongside the central moments, I look for a parent's glance, a relative's reaction and brief exchanges that cannot be repeated. Together, they give the story its depth.

A ring rests on a dry leaf reflected in a smooth surface.

THE CELEBRATION

When celebration
finds its movement.

When the dancing begins, the atmosphere changes. Rhythm, movement, encounters and the reactions around the room create a different kind of energy.

I look beyond the centre of the circle to the expressions and connections that tell the story of the celebration. I adapt to the structure of your wedding and its separate parts, paying attention to light, movement and timing.

THE FINISHED IMAGE

The care continues
after the wedding.

My work continues after the cameras are put away. During selection and editing, I pay attention to balanced colour, natural skin tones and a clean, consistent finish.

The aim is to preserve the character of each moment and the people in it, with a coherent collection that connects considered portraits and spontaneous photographs from the day.
